We really loved our first experience in a professional recording studio when we visited Jeff Cooper at Room2Studio, part of the Denmark Street Studios in Maidenhead.

It was a great day and we hope to have a CD available soon...

Ian Waite loves Bass-ically Saxes

Thanks to Ian Waite for his kind message.

Ian is probably best known for his role as one of the professional dancers on the BBC's hit show Strictly Come Dancing. Having appeared in six out of the seven series aired, he has built up a following of dedicated fans and has become a highly respected and recognisable figure and personality in the world of dance.

Stand overboard at Henley Regatta

Bassically Saxes recently played aboard the impressive ‘Alaska’ Thames river cruiser (the oldest working steamer on the Thames, which is part of the National Historic Fleet) at an event hosted by our sponsor, space-pod at the world famous Henley Regatta.

The day got off to a wet start as band member Jean dropped her saxophone stand overboard, much to the amusement of all on-board and other passing vessels.

However the "band played on" and it proved to be a terrific day for the guests and staff of space-pod and also for the band.

A very proud 'Father of the Bride'!

Bass-ically Saxes Baritone player, Rob Shire was the proudest man in the UK today as he and the rest of the band attended his Daughter Amelia's wedding, to another Rob (French).

 

The couple invited us to play, as well as to be guests at their wedding, which took place at the lovely Monkey Island Hotel in Bray. 

We were blessed with the weather on the day and quite how Rob managed to be 'Father of the Bride' and still play his baritone still astounds us all. It was a very romantic and happy occasion. All of the band felt very privileged to be part of this very special day. It truly was a perfect day for everyone present. We wish Amelia and Rob all the happiness in the world.

NEWS FLASH: Attorney General joins Bass-ically Saxes

Farnham Common Playground Opening.

Despite mixed weather, this event was very well supported by the general public. 

Dominic Grieve, Attorney General, was asked to officially open the playground.  Free cake and drinks were given to everyone who attended this event. We were delighted that Dominic Grieve had time to have a photograph taken with us.

The show goes on despite Maidenhead protest

Maidenhead Carnival 2011.

Thankfully they weren't unhappy with us, but due to a protest march in Maidenhead that day, the Bass-ically Saxes band were given a position to play in Nicholsons Walk, Maidenhead's main shopping mall, which was great fun.

On this occasion we played for an hour and raised £20.66 for the British Heart Foundation.
